The Studio

The Rain Music Studio offers the production of release quality demos to retail-ready products, including song development and arranging. We specialize in productions that draw people to God and that communicate the gospel of Jesus Christ.

You will be working directly with the owner, Nick Coetzee, who has experience with many genres of music and knows how to find the heart (groove) of a song, and draw out the best in an artist.  He can connect you with singers, songwriters, musicians, engineers, graphic designers and manufacturers.

Rain Music combines the latest technology with an exotic location close to Tampa, Florida (35mins from Tampa International Airport and little over an hour from Disneyworld and Orlando). The studio is located in a private house to give the most informal, relaxed atmosphere possible and includes a guestroom and bathroom, swimming pool, access to kitchen, internet and cable TV.  We provide breakfast and sometimes lunch/dinner (many restaurants or stores within 10mins drive).

On-location recording is also available anywhere in the world. Our heartbeat is to capture the energy of the venue so that the listener feels that he/she is at the actual event (refer Lakeland outpouring sample with worship leader Roy Fields).

Some of Nick’s gear:

  • Protools, Logic Pro, BFD2
  • HD24 Hard Disc Recorder
  • Yamaha digital console
  • Kurzweil sampling systems
  • Genelec, NS10 monitoring.
  • Various mics and preamps including Neumann, AKG, Beyer
  • Amek 9080 pre/eq made by Rupert Neve
  • Various classic electric guitars, acoustics, keyboards and outboard gear

The Recording Experience

Pre-production Phase:
Once the paperwork is completed we will listen to potential songs and set the overall direction of the recording, production timeline, etc. This is very important as it allows for the forming of your sound and deciding the right players (if session musicians/singers are needed), studio, etc.

Phase I:
Tracking is done next (usually in Florida or Nashville, depending on the budget).

Phase II:
The second phase would be the recording of vocals, overdubs and background vocals and any additional editing.

Phase III:
Mixing the tracks and mastering.

Final  Phase:
Cover design, artwork, printing and packaging.

“Nick has got to be one of the most talented producers I have ever known.  He has the ability to take your idea for a song and make it come to life.  I have worked with Nick on projects for more than 10 years now and all I can say is, QUALITY, PASSION and ANOINTING.”

Roy Fields
Worship Leader, Songwriter.  Royfields.com

“Nick Coetzee is a world-class producer with whom I have had the pleasure of working on a number of projects. In fact, whenever a TMA client needs a producer, Nick is the first recommendation we make to our artists and bands. Nick is able to tap into a reservoir of creativity the artists many times does not know exists within themselves. TMA recommends Nick Coetzee and Rain Music Studio to anyone who wants to take their music to new levels with a product that can compete without question in the broader marketplace within the music industry.”

“Nick Coetzee has produced at least 65 albums and is now working on ours.  Our favorite thing about Nick is that he is very precise.  He’s very easy to work with in terms of getting things accomplished and working WITH you on your sound to keep what it is that makes your band unique.  He’s fun, and you can tell he loves his job!”
